- A synthesis of old and new world winemaking techniques are utilized in the production of Nebbiolo most notable in the Barolo or Barbaresco vintages where shorter fermentations replace the more traditional long maceration periods.

- Purple-blue skinned.
- Large yields and rich color with vigorous growth
- Great acid that is balanced by smooth fruitier notes
- Usually a warmer climate red, some of the oldest vines in Italy are Barbera
